Food Sovereignty

35.2 million Americans live in food-insecure households. 9.0 million adults lived in households with very low food security. 5.3 million children lived in food-insecure households in which children, along with adults, were food insecure. Imagine a life where you struggled to fill your child's stomach. The Food Sovereignty Project has partnered with the University of Arizona to build two greenhouses at the high school, providing assistance with an agriculture curriculum, and planted 50 apple trees. Additionally, this project will provide greywater gardens to all residents who receive an off-grid water system (and opt-in).

Water

More than 2 million Americans live without basic access to safe drinking water and sanitation. More specifically, 1/3 of the Navajo Reservation lacks safe drinking water and sanitation.  Imagine a life where water isn't just a turn of the faucet away
Project Water involves building off-grid water systems to supply clean, running water to families in need. See Project Educate and find out more about how we build and install these systems.

Educate

Education is crucial to making a lasting impact. With the help of the University of Arizona Extension Program, Habitat for Humanity, and CU Boulder we will be providing the communities we serve with a variety of educational resources. There will be classes available both online and in-person covering topics on agriculture, solar power, financial literacy, plumbing, and entrepreneurship.

Project Water is implemented through an afterschool program where high school students are hired to build and install off-grid water systems. This provides job experience, income, trade skill experience, and teaches kids on the importance of community.

Market

The selling of handcrafted goods has been a source of income for families for generations. However, with covid shutting down the local markets these families have been left out to dry. We want to help support these families by selling their goods on our site. This is a unique opportunity to help families and to help support our cause at the same time.
